Isla Vista Food Cooperative Ambassador Program

The IVFC Ambassador Program will be run by the Owner Engagement Committee and will organize and train volunteers to assist in IVFC outreach and education goals in accordance with cooperative principles 5: Education, Training, and Information, 6: Cooperation Among Cooperatives, 7: Concern For The Community, and 8: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

The Co-op Ambassador Program will hold quarterly training meetings and monthly check-in meetings to review progress, calendars of events, and benchmarks towards earning appreciation gift card(s).

The Isla Vista Food Cooperative is looking for interested and engaged community members to help increase the co-op’s connectivity to our community.

Love your co-op? Want to make a difference in your community? Want to spread the word about what’s happening in IV, Downtown Santa Barbara, and beyond? We want you to join!

Requirement: At least three (3) hours of volunteer time each month over the period of at least three (3) months, for a total of nine (9) hours. 

Opportunities include:

  • Attending outreach & education events on behalf of the co-op
  • Connecting UC Santa Barbara and Santa Barbara City College students (official and unofficial) and community groups to the cooperative. Helping to provide up to date knowledge of community organizations
  • Providing input to the Owner Engagement Committee and Co-op operational team through designated feedback forms
  • Growing skills : ie, meeting facilitation, event organizing, cooperative decision making, collaborative skills 

Ambassadors that fulfill the requirement receive a co-op gift card in appreciation after each month of service.
